Instructions:

Sauté the onion in a little olive oil. Pour about half a liter of water and cook the chickpeas in it for a few minutes.

Add the carrots and lentils and continue to simmer. Add tomatoes and continue cooking on low heat. Add spices and remaining ingredients and simmer over low heat with lid off, stirring occasionally.

If necessary, add more water or thicken the vegetable-lentil stew with a little tomato paste.
