For the Halloween spider cake, first preheat the oven to 180 °C. Cover a springform pan (24 cm diameter) with baking paper and grease the edges.

Chop or grate the chocolate.

Mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder and cocoa powder. Beat margarine with sugar, vanilla sugar and salt until creamy. Add the eggs. Stir in milk and flour mixture alternately. Fold in chocolate only briefly.

Pour the batter into the pan and bake for about half an hour (test with a stick). Remove from the pan and let cool.

Stir the jam until smooth and warm it up. Coat the cake with it all around.

Liquefy the chocolate icing and glaze the cake with it.

Roll out the licorice snails and use them as legs (you may have to cut them depending on the height of the cake). Stick them to the sides of the cake. Place the eyes on one side of the cake. If desired, use licorice cuttings to glue poison fangs to the Halloween spider cake.
