Instructions:

For the apple crumble cake, butter a cake pan and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Preheat the oven to 165 degrees.

For the crumble, mix flour with sugar, salt, dried and grated bourbon vanilla bean and orange zest. Work in soft butter flakes with your hands and rub with your fingers to make small crumbles.

For the dough, cream soft butter until fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla sugar and continue to cream until sugar is dissolved.

Beat the eggs with a mixer until light and fluffy and slowly add to the butter mixture. Continue to beat until fluffy. Stir in dried, grated orange zest and fold in flour mixed with baking powder.

Peel, core, halve and slice apples. Pour the batter into the cake pan and smooth it out. Press the apple slices into the dough in a spiral shape and sprinkle with sugar.

Then spread the crumble and bake for about 50 minutes. Let the apple crumble cake cool and serve sprinkled with powdered sugar.
