Wash kumquats in hot water and cut into slices. Remove the kernels. Weigh kumquat slices and cover with the same mass of jelling sugar for one night. Squeeze blood oranges, pour juice through a sieve and measure. To 3 parts juice, add 4 parts jelling sugar. Combine with kumquats, heat and bubble for 4 minutes. Remove saucepan from stove, skim jelly after 2 min, fill hot into clean jars.
