For the steamed rice with onion flavor, peel and halve the onion. Bring water to a boil, add rice and salt and simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes.

Once the rice has absorbed almost all the liquid, place the onion in the middle of the rice, let the rice steam with the lid closed on a very low flame for about 5-10 minutes.

Serve the steamed rice with onion flavoring as desired.
