For apple-cinnamon compote with amaretto, first wash the apples, peel, remove the core and roughly dice. Immediately mix with lemon juice and ground cinnamon in a bowl and marinate for about 10 minutes.

In the meantime, heat apple juice, white wine, sugar and cinnamon sticks in a large pot. Add apple pieces and amaretto, bring the compote to a boil and simmer gently for about 10 minutes – stirring several times if necessary.

Allow the compote to cool slightly in the pot and steep, then remove the cinnamon bark.

Pour the apple and cinnamon compote with amaretto into small dessert glasses and serve warm.
