Place the long-grain rice in a saucepan with a tight-fitting lid and add salt.
Pour in enough water so that it is finger-high above the surface of the rice.
Simmer gently for 5 minutes without a lid. Turn down to lowest heat and let swell for 20 minutes with lid closed.
Finally, let rest on the turned-off stove top for 10 minutes, then loosen the long-grain rice with a fork.
