Boil milk with vanilla sugar.

Cream powdered sugar with egg yolks, beat into the hot milk using a whisking rod.

Heat, stirring constantly, until rose test (remove the pod).

Rose tasting: If you hold a wooden spoon in the liquid, lift it out again and blow over the curvature of the spoon, a wavy, rose petal-like image is created.
