For the buttermilk scones with cranberries, first preheat the oven to 200 °C. Grease or line a baking tray with baking paper. In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar for sprinkling.

In a large bowl, mix sugar, baking powder, flour and salt. Add margarine and knead together with mixer until all ingredients are combined. Add buttermilk and mix well. Add cranberries and orange zest.

Form the dough into a ball and divide in half. On a lightly floured work surface, roll out into two discs about 2 inches thick. Cut each disk into 8 wedge-shaped pieces (triangles).

Place on the baking sheet and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the buttermilk scones with cranberries are light brown.
