Remove the skin from the potatoes and cut them into very thin slices. Grease a gratin dish, spread the finely chopped onion evenly on the bottom. Form potato slices over it, season the whipped cream heartily and let it bubble up once (microwave: 600 watts, 1 min), pour over the potatoes. Bake in heated oven for 45 min at 180 C.
