For the cheese sticks, put flour in a large bowl and make a well in the center. Crumble in yeast, add some salt and sugar and cover with some lukewarm milk.

Cover the bowl with a tea towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes. Then add the remaining ingredients and knead into a firm yeast dough. (It is best to use your hands).

Place in a bowl, cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes. Transfer the dough to a floured work surface and cut into pieces and form small sticks. Line a baking tray with baking paper and let the sticks rest on it for another 10 minutes.

Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake in the oven at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
