Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Grease a muffin tin or line with paper cups.

Pit the cherries and cut them in half if necessary (if you don’t like large pieces of fruit).

Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a large bowl.

Lightly beat the eggs in another bowl. Stir in buttermilk and oil.

Pour this egg-buttermilk mixture into the flour mixture and stir in the cherries. Stir the dough only briefly while doing this: A wooden spoon is enough for this, a mixer is not necessary.

With the help of a spoon, pour the batter into the ramekins. Bake in a hot oven for about 20 minutes until the muffins are risen and golden brown. Cool on a wire rack and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
