Chicory Gratin with Cheese & Ham

Instructions:

Clean, rinse and drain the chicory. Cut chicory in half and sprinkle with juice of one lemon on the spot. Cover and steam in a little boiling salted water for five minutes until tender. Drain.

Cut cheese and ham slices into quarters. Place chicory halves in a greased gratin dish. Then carefully slide cheese and ham slices between chicory leaves. Finish with cheese.

Season whipped cream, pour over vegetables. Add breadcrumbs and fat in small flakes on top.

Bake in a heated kitchen oven (electric oven: 225 degrees / convection oven: 200 degrees / gas: level 4) for ten to twelve minutes until golden brown.

Rinse the chives, cut into rolls and sprinkle over the chicory.

Serve with mashed potatoes.

Our tip: Always use fresh chives if possible!
