For the chili con carne, first finely dice the onion and garlic (separately). Saute the onion with a pinch of sugar and salt slowly (about 15. minutes), at low temperature.

Increase the temperature (so that it starts to fry properly), add the meat, tomato paste and garlic (earlier it would have burned) and fry vigorously. Season the meat to taste with salt, pepper and chili powder and deglaze with the stock. Add the strained tomatoes and simmer, covered, at a low temperature for about 1 1/2 hours.

Then stir in the chocolate, add the corn and beans and simmer the chili con carne again for about 30-45 minutes.
