For the curd cheese balls, cream together butter, vanilla sugar, sugar and egg. Add lemon zest, salt and curd cheese. Stir in flour mixed with baking powder as well.

Scoop out 12 balls with 2 tablespoons and deep-fry in hot fat at about 175 °C for about 5 minutes. Serve sprinkled with cinnamon sugar.
