For the elderberry brandy, harvest the ripe elderberries with umbel. Wash them briefly at home and discard the coarse stems. Put the berries dripping wet into the saucepan, sprinkle with sugar, bring to the boil and then mash vigorously.

Transfer the mixture to a tea towel and drain off the juice. Mix the brandy and juice, fill into bottles and let the elderberry brandy steep for 6 weeks.
