Instructions:

For the yeast grapes, prepare the dampfl and leave it in a warm place until it has doubled in volume.

Then add the remaining ingredients (first without milk) and knead in enough milk to make a medium-firm dough. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1 cm, cut rectangles and cut them twice in the middle. Let rise until they have doubled in height.

In the meantime, heat the oil in a shallow saucepan and fry a bunch for testing. The oil should be hot, but not too hot, or the bunches will be dark and straw-like. If everything fits, bake all the bunches and let them drain on a piece of kitchen roll.

Serve the yeast bunches sprinkled with powdered sugar.
