Instructions:

Put flour in a large enough bowl, make a dent in it. Stir yeast with warm milk and add sugar. Pour the yeast-milk into the hollow, stir with a little flour until it forms a steam and let it rest for 10 minutes with the lid closed.

Let butter melt, add candied lemon peel, salt, currants, cinnamon and cloves to the dampfl form. Knead all together to a dough and rest for 1 hour until the dough has its volume.

Now roll out the dough to about 2 cm thick and cut out round patties about 10 cm in diameter.

Place the patties on a greased baking tray and let them rest for a while, then brush them with a mixture of egg yolk and milk and sprinkle with sliced almonds.

Bake in a heated oven at 200 °C for about 25 minutes.

The “Heisse Wecken” go well with: Powidl, nut nougat cream, powdered sugar or honey.
