First set up tripod and make fire.In the meantime, for the kettle goulash the meat coarsely diced and chop the onion just as coarsely.Over a good heat, hang up the kettle and let the lard get hot. Add the onion and let it roast while stirring constantly – this can take about 20 – 30 minutes. Then add the meat and let it roast just as well.

When the meat is well colored, add the paprika powder and stir well. Then add the garlic and pour in the water. Stir well and add all the spices.

Simmer the goulash over medium heat for about 3 hours, stirring frequently. Towards the end of the cooking time, add the beer and hot bell pepper paste (e.g. Ayvar), season well, mix flour with water and thicken with it. After that, the kettle goulash should only pull.
