Perhaps your new favorite bean dish:

1. lentils, long grain rice and clear soup in a large ovenproof casserole form and cook at low temperature for 20 min, stirring occasionally.

2. add garlic, canned tomatoes, leek with juice, ground chili spice, garam, cumin masala, broccoli cut into strips, corn on the cob, bell bell pepper and bean pods to the casserole.

Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the heat, cover and simmer on low heat for another 10-15 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

Add the basil and season with salt and freshly ground pepper. 5.

5. garnish with fresh basil sprigs and serve on the spot.

H Variation: If you choose, you can vary this recipe with brown rice or wild rice.

This is a really hearty dish for cold days when you need a filling, hot meal.
