Instructions:

Cover the baking tray with baking paper and preheat the oven to 200 °C.

Beat egg whites with half of the sugar until stiff peaks form. Cream the other half of the sugar with the vanilla sugar, salt and egg yolks. Stir in the flour. Then carefully fold in the beaten egg whites.

Fill the dough into a piping bag. Pipe fish onto the baking tray. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Bake the New Year’s Eve fish for about 10 minutes and then let cool.

In the meantime, for the piping glaze, mix egg whites and powdered sugar well. Add a little lemon juice. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and set aside.

Remove the lucky fish from the baking paper.

Pour the piping icing into baking paper stanitzels and draw scales, fins and eyes on the lucky fish.
