For the mashed potatoes, boil the potatoes in plenty of water until soft. In the meantime, peel the onion and chop it into very fine cubes – then set them aside.

When the potatoes are soft-boiled, strain, peel and immediately cut into coarse cubes. In a higher pot, heat the butter and sauté the onion until it has taken some color.

Then add the potato cubes and pour in the milk. Remove the pot from the heat and mash everything with a potato masher until the desired consistency is reached.

Then season the mashed potatoes with salt, bell pepper, paprika and nutmeg.
