For the mozzarella-ham toast, toast the toast in the toaster or brown it briefly on both sides in a frying pan.
Then spread a thin layer of butter on the warm toast. Remove the fat from the ham slices. Cut the mozzarella into 8 even slices.
Spread evenly on the toast, alternating with the ham. Sprinkle with thyme and pepper and bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 8 to 10 minutes until the cheese has melted.
Arrange one toast on each of a few lettuce leaves decoratively on 4 plates.
