For the nut slices, cream the butter with powdered sugar and vanilla sugar, stir in egg yolks and nuts and half the amount of flour, knead in the remaining flour and chill the dough.

Roll out 3 – 4 mm thick, cut out round cookies and bake at 190 °C – 200 °C until light brown. Knead the raw marzipan mass with the powdered sugar, roll out to a thickness of 2 – 3 mm, cut out slices of the same size and stick them onto the cooled cookies with currant jelly.

Melt the chocolate in a water bath and dip the slices in it.
