Preheat the stove to 220 °C. Rub a large casserole dish with garlic, brush generously with melted butter. Peel the potatoes and slice into thin slices. Layer in the dish, seasoning each layer with salt, pepper and a hint of nutmeg, sprinkle with cheese. Mix whipped cream with milk, pour over potato slices, they should be completely covered with liquid. Bake in the oven for 50 to 60 minutes.
