Instructions:

Cut the stems of the cherries in half and put the former in a jar. Pour wine vinegar over them and let them stand for a day. Strain the vinegar, bring to the boil with sugar and cloves, skim and pour over the cherries again. Let it stand for another day. Repeat this process twice more. Then close the jars well and store in a cool and dark place.
