Drain the cherries, reserving the juice. Put 400 ml water, juice of one lemon and cherry juice into a saucepan. Mix pudding powder, 50 g sugar and 5 tbsp juice until smooth. Bring rest of juice to boil and thicken with pudding powder. Fold in cherries.

For waffle batter, beat sugar, salt, butter and 1 pkg. vanilla sugar until creamy. Fold in eggs one at a time. Fold in flour, baking powder, 250 g sour cream or crème fraiche and 250 g whipped cream alternately. Form 1 1/2 tablespoons each in the center of a greased, heated waffle iron and bake about 20 waffles at a time until golden brown.

Whip remaining whipped cream and remaining sour cream or crème fraiche with remaining vanilla sugar until stiff. Dust waffles with powdered sugar. Serve sour cream or crème fraiche whipped cream and cherries separately.
