Soften the lentils covered with the water for about 15 min. Fold in the bulgur and let it swell for half an hour.

In the meantime, finely dice the onion and garlic and gently sauté in hot oil, allowing them to turn golden brown.

Mix steamed onions, finely chopped chilies (remove seeds first!), tomato and bell pepper pulp, spring onions cut into rings, finely chopped parsley as well as chopped almond kernels with the lentil mixture thoroughly.

Season with cumin, salt and pepper. Work the quantity through proficiently with your hands until it is well combined.

Shape into walnut-sized balls with moistened hands. Roll in grated almond kernels and pile on a plate lined with lettuce leaves.
