For the Venice Tomato Sauce, heat the oil in a pan, add the diced onions and sauté for 4 minutes. Add the tomatoes with the bay leaf, salt and pepper and cook the sugo on low heat for 30 minutes. Add the basil and cook the sauce for another 5 minutes, then strain through a sieve. Suitable for any pasta and is a touch of Italy.
