A great cake recipe for any occasion:

Cream shortening and sugar until thick, fold in yolks and egg whites in order.

Mix baking powder, salt, flour, grated lemon zest and a packet of vanilla sugar and fold in.

Grease a cake springform pan (26 cm ø) and dust with flour. Pour in the dough and sprinkle with the pine nuts. Place in oven heated to 180 degrees (fan 150 degrees, gas mark 2) and bake for about half an hour.

Sprinkle with the remaining vanilla sugar. Cut into 24 small cake pieces.
